Last night we caught the overnight ferry from Railay.
Railay was a pretty cool place, although the weather was pretty crap as storms seemd to be lingering over Thailand for a couple of days. We did get some breaks in the cloud and the sun did shine which made it a really beautiful place. The surrounding area is predominantly limestone cliffs which have (the vast majority anyway) been bolted up to cater for the hoards of people who come here to try climbing. Anyway, we managed to find a pretty nice little bungalow right at the top of a cliff, although in the end we decided only to stay for 2 nights as we both really wanted 3 weeks on the beach to end our trip with.
This meant we had to get the ferry at 11pm from surat thani on the east coast to Koh Tao Island. It's lovely here and there is a fab beach with white sand and really clear turquoise water. The boat trip was pretty auful (Rich didn't mind it though as he drank 8 beers and fell asleep). The sleeping arrangments were pretty dire!... in fact, they were slave ship like. It was literally about 100 single matresses laid out in the hull of the ship. The journey took from 11pm till 6.30am this morning so we are pretty tired as you can imagine!
Hope all is well

Hi Shonah & Rich,
Monday 14th May and all is well. We had a good holiday and incorporated it with sheepy things. Been to work sat and sun. Been catching up with your many diary notes - fascinating.
Great that you have been travelling and seen some more beaches. The boat trip sounds awful. It will make you appreciate Colonsay beaches when you get there.
Had a lovely holiday in Colonsay - just like a carribean island. The weather was great for first 5 days. So hot was it that when Andrea & Stephen joined us the next day we went to cable bay to sunbathe - yes I actually had my cossie on and paddled. Andrea was fine and big and we got special permission to drive part of the way to this beach because of Andrea's condition.
Came home with 5 sheep after having a lovely sheepy time with other sheep keepers. They are installed in the paddock and look amazing. Black with horns - so far I have got no 4 horners yet but may be getting some in next few weeks from Lord Joicey for the Ford & Etal Estate near Berwick.(I met him on holiday)
Charlie has a new muzzle wich works and fits well it is a webbing one better than the bucket.
2 broody hens sitting on two clutches - hope they hatch in 3 weeks time ready for your return home.
Grandad is o.k depressed in day and fine on evening. Everyone sends their love. Mum & Dave XX
