Udaipur

sunny 24 °C

To all our followers back home!
Last night was certainly a strange one!! We ended up in what must be Udaipur's poshest restaurant, where we had (Riich certainly anyway, Sho possibly as she was erring on the side of caution with her 'Delhi belly') possibly the nicest meal yet, with definitley the best views of any restaurant I've ever eaten in! It was right on the lake, about 3 storeys up and we managed to wangle a window seat (which are usually reserved days in advance). The sun setting over the lake was brilliant and set the mood for an excellent night!! After having finished our meal, (Rich ventured in to meat territory, as a result of growing bored of vegetarian food), we walked back alongh the lake and somehow ended up in a tailors! We were living like kings, not the eternal travellers who wear the same t-shirts for 3 or 4 25 degree plus consecutive days and think nothing of it! We had eaten at the poshest restaurant in town and Rich was then getting measured up for a couple of suits, made from fabrics that would undoubtedly cost near to thousands in England! Kind of surreal! Anyway, the 2nd fitting is at 8:30pm this evening, where the final fit can be determined and what not! Postage back to england then has to be arranged, probably also including various elephant themed souvenirs for sho and our house in Newcastle!! (I secretly think she wishes she was an elephant 'mahmoot' - the term for an elephant trainer she convincingly assures me, employing the knowledge no doubt picked up from the numerous elephant books she appears to be studying!!hehe.) Anyway, I won't be getting a tan sat hunched over an indian computer, so I must escape!! It's very much like being in the library basement at university, with very little natural light and many computer boffin like souls, with long spindly fimngers seeming designed for rapid keyboard crunching movements!!
Love to all,
Rich

Hello the intrepid explorers, great travel reports from the Far East. Jim is in the process of taking spelling lessons whilst at Uni although it doesn't stop him speaking his mind.

The cat is off to the knackers yard today as Max takes priority in this house, Mum will definitely be upset to see her go.

Keep the news flowing it makes great reading when I get home from a tedious day in the prison.

Love to you both take great care of each other. "Pedro" xx

As a follow on to your Dad's comments, ask who also shed a tear when he had to take Ruby into her new pen at the Rescue Centre!! She had really touched our hearts in just one short week. We sent her toy mouse with her & hope it comforts her! The lady at the cattery said she was so beautiful that it was unlikely that she would stay there long. Guess there's nothing to stop me phoning on Monday to see if she's been re-homed, by then Max will have gone home too!!

Anyway, Max has moved in for the weekend now. We've just been on the field in driving rain, he enjoyed it tho!!

Nan off to Harrogate tomorrow with Pauline & Alan. She's had her hair done & is looking like a glam gran! I've printed your diaries off for her to read, Pauline too, both read them eagerly. Nan says Michaael Palin must be due for retirement soon, not that she's biased!

Anyway, take care & keep on diary writing,
Loads of love Mum xxxxxxxxxx

alright guys sounds like your having an amazing time, first time i have logged on since you went so have had a few post to read. it all sounds fantastic, it must have all come as abit of a culture shock getting of the plane in india. was speaking to my friend who has travelled quite abit around asia and he said starting off a deli really was jumping in at the deep end. Booked my flights today for south america, into quito on the 26th of june and out of rio on the 1st of september... just counting the days now. England ireland was shocking at the weekend, scotland were something like 20 points down in 5 minutes against italy, no joke. keep the post coming, look after yourselves. Rob x
